I am a sophomore here at UK and currently majoring in integrated strategic communication with a minor in Biology. After graduate school i plan to further my education, and apply for dosimetry school. Many of you might not know what this is, and thats fine because it is new with all the advanced technology being created. With this career path i will be studying radiation oncology. When i find a job i will be the one giving radiation to the patients, and helping them through there treatment. I am so excited to start my career, and cant wait for all that i learn in the process.
I choose Best Friends day Center as my service organization because of my interest in health care. My mother has been talking care of elderly people ever since i was born. She has her own business called Personal Patient Quality Care. Her and a whole crew of nurses go to elders homes to take care of them so they don't have to go into nursing hoes and they can stay at a house they feel comfortable in. Whether they need 24 care or less my mom finds someone to be at the house. Growing up with this i have been able to go on jobs with her, and see what she does. Most of her patients do suffer from alzheimer's. One patient she was very close with for years lost her house, and my mom so kindly took her in when she didn't have enough money to go to a nursing home. Her name was Sarah and she had alzheimer's disease as well. I was able to see all the affects Alzheimer's had on her, and help her through it by taking care of her when my mom would let me. I became very close with her, and even though she didn't always remember my name she felt like family to me. Going through this experience has made me more aware of alzheimer's and when i found out there was a service organization i had to participate in that one. i wanted to further my research, and give back and help people with this disease, and do what i have been doing my whole life. I am so grateful to be apart of this organization and to know all the people i have met.Now i'm going to tell you a little about myself as a person. I am very shy a first, but i open up pretty quickly. I love working out, and reading books. I am very friendly and love helping others. Now that i have told you a little about myself i hope you like the posts i have to share with you.
